The students on this year’s Pembroke-King’s Programme descended on Cambridge today, from as far afield as Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
A student signs in to her new accommodation. All the students will be living in Pembroke or King’s College accommodation for their eight weeks here, located within the city centre and within ten minutes’ walking distance of the main colleges, shops and restaurants. One student is delighted to discover a plaque on the house opposite saying that Charles Darwin had lived there: “That’s just what Cambridge is like.”
This student arrived a few days early with her mum in order to explore the city. “Cambridge is like a fairytale,” she says.
Students relax with refreshments in King’s College bar after dropping off their luggage.
The students enjoy a buffet in King’s Georgian Gothic dining hall. Dessert is lemon cheesecakes, chocolate gateaus and strawberry meringue roulades.
Everyone gets to know each other over drinks in King’s Hall.
